Gran Toro

The size

There's no fixed standard for a gran toro. Makers use the name for a toro with more girth, usually around 6 inches with a 52 to 56 ring gauge, and a few push it all the way to 60.

Why smoke one

More ring means more filler relative to wrapper, so the filler and binder carry most of the flavor. Thicker cigars give a cooler, less concentrated draw than thin ones.

It also lasts longer than a standard toro of the same length, since thick cigars burn more slowly than thin ones.
