The size
The corona is the benchmark size the others get measured against. Most run 5.5 to 6 inches with a 42 to 44 ring gauge, and the Cuban standard is 5.625 x 42.
It's a parejo, which means straight sides, an open foot and a closed, rounded head.
Why smoke one
With a slimmer ring than a robusto, a corona gives the wrapper more say in the blend, and the flavor tends to be more concentrated.
The trade-off is heat. Thinner cigars burn hotter and faster than thick ones, so a corona rewards a slow, even pace.
