The size
The Churchill is a large corona format, traditionally 7 x 47. Most made today run 6.75 to 7 inches with a 48 to 50 ring. In Cuban factories the 7 x 47 size is called Julieta No. 2.
Where the name comes from
It's named for Winston Churchill, often called the most famous cigar smoker in history. The best-known example is the Romeo y Julieta Churchill.
Why smoke one
The smoke travels a long way before it reaches you and cools on the way, so the first half is milder than the first half of a robusto. By the end you've smoked a lot more tobacco, too.
